Waking the Lion

Stockvault.net

Sometimes imagination pounces; mostly it sleeps soundly in the corner, purring.

~Leslie Grimutter

So when your imagination isn’t conjured up by tooth brushing, what do you do to get the creative juices flowing?

I hate it when a creative idea is tickling my brain. You know the one…at first you think you are nailing down the right word or phrase, a title perhaps…and in the next moment you’ve seen you’re work flash before you start to finish and wish you could write fast enough to complete a novel in 45 seconds instead of 45 days or months, before you lose one grain of throught.

It can seem very overwhelming and I have years of crimes to solve and children’s adventures to recount. Am I afraid of waking the lion?

I want to know why there’s never a pen or piece of paper to be found when I have an idea rattling around in my mind! Very frustrating!

I think my kids are in league to toss those ideas right out of my head (they also make phone calls impossible). A four-year-old screech is the perfect way to lose any train of thought.

Creative thoughts come handy when I go for a run. I dont usually listen to music or iPod like other runner do [because I dont have one hahahaha] so my mind is free to welcome nagging thoughts and when I come back I come up with new ideas. it works with me. Nice post by the way. Love it. I added this site to my YOUR Links too. take care.

My best creative ideas come when I’m in bed. You know that place where your not really asleep, but your not really awake? I get the best ideas right there, but no energy to get up and write it down. Then by morning, it’s usually gone.
